Job Application Guides:

Conditions of Employment

Some positions require you to have a passing typing test or data entry test on file prior to the position closing. You must provide photo identification in order to sit for the test. Test scores are valid for one year, and the most recent score is used for consideration.

If you have ever pled No Contest to, or been convicted of, a First Degree Misdemeanor or any Felony you will be required to fully explain and give dates. A conviction will not necessarily bar you from employment, but will be weighed with respect to time, circumstances, seriousness, and the position for which you have applied.

If an offer of employment is presented, you will be asked to provide copies of all required documents, diplomas, degrees, certifications, and licenses.  An education diploma/degree issued outside the United States or US territories must be evaluated for a determination of United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluations Services (NACES) at your expense.  If you claim Veterans’ Preference you will be required to provide documentation of your eligibility within 3 days of application.

Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical, including a drug screening, is a mandatory condition of employment with the Orange County Comptroller. A positively confirmed drug test or the refusal to submit to a drug test will result in the conditional offer of employment being withdrawn and will render the applicant ineligible for Comptroller employment for 12 calendar months from the date of the positive drug test.

Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background check, including a polygraph examination and fingerprinting, is a mandatory condition of employment with the Orange County Comptroller. Applicants selected for hire will be asked to provide specific information and documentation, which will be utilized to conduct a thorough background investigation.

Men seeking employment with the Orange County Comptroller, who are required to register with the Selective Service System under the Military Selective Service Act, and who have received a conditional offer of employment, must submit documentation of registration with the Selective Service System (or an exception from registration) before the employment offer is finalized.

New Employees must sign up for direct deposit of payroll checks within the first pay period after their first day of employment.

Applicants selected for employment must sign an Affidavit for Non-Use of Tobacco Products in order to be hired by the Office. The non-use of tobacco products must have been for a period of at least (6) months immediately preceding application for employment; and must be maintained and continued for the duration of employment with the Office.
