As County Comptroller, I maintain the county’s Official Records, which currently consist of more than 13 million documents and over 30 million pages. Most of these documents relate to property ownership, such as deeds, mortgages, title transfers, and liens. A small percentage of these pages may contain social security numbers. In accordance with Florida law, my office reviewed these documents and masked social security numbers for all previously recorded documents. Although Florida Law requires that these numbers not be placed on newly filed documents, we will, on a three month cycle review and mask any such numbers that we locate. For recently filed documents, if the document preparer has inserted social security numbers, then we can mask them immediately, but I will need your help, since we record over 13,000 pages daily.
Here’s what you can do to help me help you:
1) click on the Records Search button on the right side of this web page and accept the disclaimer at the bottom of the page that appears:
2) do a records search using your name (remember to also search under your maiden name or other names you may have used);
3) note the document or the book and page number.
4) please complete this form and submit.
We cannot do the search for you, but we can assist you with your own search. Thank you for helping me both protect your privacy and maintain vital public access.
