The Comptroller conducts online public auctions of surplus tangible equipment through Public Surplus. These auctions allow the County an opportunity to recover part of its expenditures for equipment and vehicles, and provide the citizens with a fair and open opportunity to purchase these items.
The Comptroller also maintains a surplus property warehouse that is used temporarily to store equipment prior to disposal. Orange County agencies have an opportunity to request transfer of equipment to their department, thereby allowing them to obtain a needed piece of equipment at no additional cost to taxpayers.
The public has an opportunity to bid on surplus equipment through online auctions held throughout the year. Items available through auction are viewable at Public Surplus and in person by appointment. Live in-person auctions are no longer held.
